Where four gardens meet, warm wood weaves seamlessly through open spaces, guiding life and light in a Laguna home
The Four Court in Laguna is thoughtfully planned around four distinct court areas, each serving a functional and experiential purpose. The front yard introduces the home with a welcoming presence, while the side entrance guides visitors through a small pond beneath the stairs and a lush garden, leading them to the inner court. This inner court serves as a transitional space, separating the living and dining areas from the kitchen, creating a fluid yet organized circulation that enhances privacy and spatial clarity. At the rear, the backyard extends into a dining area and lanai, seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor living.
The exterior palette balances warmth and refinement through the use of natural materials. Wood clads the facade, complemented by crisp white negative walls and carefully placed natural stones. Windows and doors are constructed from the same wood material, creating a continuous visual language that ties the entire design together. The combination of textures and tones produces a subtle yet striking harmony, allowing the house to blend with its natural surroundings while asserting its architectural identity.

Responding to the site’s topography, the residence is elevated with a lower ground floor, turning a functional requirement into a bold architectural statement. The house’s height enhances views and daylight penetration, while reinforcing its presence on the gently sloping lot. This careful adjustment not only addresses site challenges but also elevates the overall spatial experience, giving the home a sense of grandeur without overwhelming its natural context.
A berm along the frontage adds a final layer of thoughtful design. Beyond aesthetics, it minimizes excessive excavation, preserving the site’s original terrain and subtly grounding the house within its environment. The Four Court exemplifies how considered planning, material continuity, and sensitivity to the landscape can converge, creating a home that is at once functional, elegant, and deeply connected to its surroundings.
