H Resort Puerto Princesa with Modern Private Villas in Origami Forms, Beach Bars, & Gigantic Infinity Pool
The main concept to Puerto Princesa’s H Resort is in merging the minimalist concept of origami with touches of Filipino tropical architecture into more than 50 private villas, a luxury hotel, spa, restaurant, chapel, convention hall, infinity pool, and game facilities spread over its 4.4-hectare property.
The H Resort Puerto Princesa has a seamless transition between its public, semi-private, and private spaces while maintaining an organic layout. The entrance opens to novelty shops, public relations offices, and the convention hall connecting to private spaces to include spas, cabanas, VIP seaside dining areas, and water parks for wet activities. Bordering the site’s southwestern bound is a majestic view of the Sulu Sea.
H Resort Puerto Princesa is an Architectural Fusion of Origami and Batak Crafts into Modern Tropical Beachfront Design
The architectural concept was inspired by the art of folding paper into decorative figures known as origami. The villa’s outer shell would be folded planes of smooth white surfaces. In doing so, this modern-looking aesthetics would then be complemented by vernacular accents having almost ethnic interiors. The design concept and architectural style were meant to highlight the local Batak Tribe Village of Puerto Princesa, a slowly disintegrating tribe with only 300 members as of date. By infusing their crafts into the development’s origamic architecture, this project not only preserves the island’s cultural roots but also uplift’s the Batak tribe’s livelihood.
H Resort Puerto Princesa aims to go beyond the most conventional notion on Filipino Architecture. By re-imagining how Filipino architecture blends into the site’s natural landscape, the hotel resort’s uniquely modern Filipino design hopefully celebrates the Philippines’ rich cultural diversity into unforgettable guest’s experiences.
