Modern Office Building Design in BGC with Parametric Ventilation Grate Exterior Envelope
The unique architectural form is an eight stories high tropical office building proposal for a 12,000 sqm property in Bonifacio Global City. The communal spaces are inspired by Filipino pattern making in ethnic weaving and porous draperies. In addition, the office building is incorporated with exterior ventilation grates for scraping and filtering natural breeze. Similarly, it is topped by a double roofing system to help prepare for large rainwater run-off as well as insulate the building from extreme summer heat gain.

The parametric building skin design took after the local basket weaving technique or “banig” making to express this futuristic adaptation inspired by indigenous patterns, forms, tactile texture, and cultural connectedness. Having porous geometries, the envelope, therefore, acts as a sun-shading system that also helps in distributing interior breezes. This is facilitated by scraping off outdoor air movements into the building. Above all, these wind grate assemblies are equipped with actuators and lights that could be color-controlled independently through programmable illumination. This technology is particularly helpful in reflecting commemorable events, announcements, or mood for this unique and modern office building design in BGC.
The building adapts easily to work cultures with well planned private and public zones in the layout. For example, semi-private spaces such as auditoriums, training halls, and libraries encourage continuing education, collaboration, and training. Likewise, offices and lounges have 360 degrees of panoramic views overlooking the urban scenes. Subsequently, a unifying assembly area for ceremonies and events bridges all departments in this complex. But most importantly, floor levels are grouped based on the flow of information and document processing, enabling faster transactions and an increase in user performance.
